Busy Busy...

So we got to Albequerque Saturday night. We spent the night there and went to the zoo on Sunday. It was fun and the weather was nice. We then drove to El Paso, and ate Chicos for dinner. I stayed up late talking with my mother in law (Sally) and my brother in law (Ivan). It was really nice.

Monday we woke up and Louie, Ivan, T.J. (another brother in law), and Sonia (my sister in law) put up the swimming pool. The kids played in the shallow water. It was fun to watch them play. We had a blast laughing. I also bought a mouse yesterday for Ivan's snake. I was all excited till the car ride home and was sad because I knew his destination. We waited 30 minutes to watch the snake eat the mouse. I was sad... that is when we found out Louie's co-worker Nick passed away on Sunday. It was shocking, and it is still ringing in my head. He was young and funny. The accident could have been prevented which makes it harder.
We ate hamburgers for dinner and later that evening Mikey (Louie's cousin) came over with his girlfriend(?) Chastity(?). We talked till 2 in the morning. It was fun.

This morning is Tuesday. It's a new day. With new possibilities. Happy Day People. Carpe Diem. Life can be short. Tomorrow isn't promised. We all have to soar.

On the road!

It was a challenging departure. We made several trips back home. Dog bucket, then Insurance, then the spare cash.... yeah. Several. But alas we are on the road.

It is currently 838 PM and it is dark! It is 37 degrees out and the skies are clear! Amazing!! It's been years since I have seen so many stars!!! It is truly breath taking. I come from a city which has a chronic overcast. So stars are appreciated when seen.

I will blog again later. Just thought I should share.

Eat your heart out El Paso...

... I am clipped, waxed, tweezed, and plucked and ready to go... (except for the last of packing....) Lol! Sorry, a bit cocky... just happy right now.

To packing and cleaning. And our car should be ready tonight or tomorrow morning. And we don't owe a penny!

Relentless

JASON ALDEAN! I was woken up by this song. Last night I set it as my wake up alarm. WOW! What a difference. Needless to say I much rather wake up singing to this than turning it off to go back to sleep. Well, I power walked this morning for 30 mins./1.6 miles. Not bad, but not marathon...

Juli and I are sitting here listing to Mr. Aldean. I was showing her that he was playing the guitar, and wearing a cowboy hat. I said "Isn't he HOT?" and she said, "Yeah,... don't get too close to the heater because it's too hot". ROTFL!!

So today I start packing bags. And I will be washing the kids sheets. And doing more laundry and cleaning. Packing the kids movies because I didn't do that yesterday. I hope I can finish sewing my jean skirt. I started it yesterday. It looks good. But I am trying my best to get it right. I haven't sewn one before, so this is new to me. I have watch a few tutorials but I am not making it the same as the ones I've seen, similar though.

Tomorrow I go and get my hair cut and a brazillian. I didn't get my hair done on Monday due to miscommunication between the husband and I. But now I don't have to worry about rushing and they are one right after the other. So it works. I hope the weather stays nice. I might even have enough time to walk from the hair salon to down town Silverdale. The excersise and fresh air will also be nice. Crossing my fingers for sun and to be somewhat warm. Oh and no rain.

This morning it's sunny and the grass is green. "Sun is warm, grass is green" - Mr. Miyagi, The Next Karate Kid.

Well, I gotta get to work. LOTS to do. YAY!

I personally would like to thank Jason Aldean...

...for trying to make my day better with his music. It's been one of "those days"....

Right now I am in love with a few songs...

Relentless
See You When I See You
Days Like These

LOL... aw... breathing...

Last week was a tuff one...

Last week, as you saw, I found out about my Aunt. It hit me the next day. It seems to be something that comes and goes. As time and new things arise I'll deal with it again.

Our car is still in the shop. It's been there since the 9th and nothing has been done to it. We've been waiting on people and procedures. It pisses me off. So we've been borrowing cars because we don't have ours. It's not like we don't take of our car, because we do. We do all of the required maintance, we even use synthetic oil. It's a manufacturer warrenty problem that they have decided they don't want to fix and then they want to charge us for taking it apart and looking at it, then to put it back together. They didn't do anything. Louie brought it in for a sound it's been making when we start it up and a TSB (?) (basically it's a complaint people have had with this specific make and model) has come out. Some dealerships have been fixing the problem. Our dealership has decided not to because their insurance adjuster didn't see anything physically wrong. However, the dealership's insurance ajuster hasn't heard the horrible noise, because the car was taken apart upon request to see what was wrong. Regardless, I am tired of waiting and I want something done about it. Especially since we leave FRIDAY!

So we have everything for our trip with the exception of food. I am super excited and can't wait to start packing. I am glad I posted everything I am planning to pack. It makes it so much easier. Now I just have to plan what hair cut I wanna get tonight, and when to schedule my brazilian. I finally found "the bathing suit" I even got into a small. Can you believe it? It's all black too! I may post pictures (Of the swim suit) when and if I get my tan when we are down there.

I hope I can blog when we are down there. I usually get really busy and can be forgetful on updating or taking lots of pictures. We are usually in the moment and foget to take out the camera or camcorder. I should have my phone on me at all times, so I will have to remember to take pictures with it.

My goodness, so much to do. I still have time, and if I start now I won't be procrastinating! SUPER EXCITED! A few kinks to work out. But nothing that can't be fixed. I will post my new cut this evening or tomorrow. EEE!!!

It's not business, IT's PERSONAL...

.....FAMILY

So I want to share something... Personal. I have been personal before. How I feel. (Kinda) Most of the time I don't know how I feel. I am usually just "out there". There is always so much going through my head. I don't cope well. I don't deal with just one situation and move on to the next. I tend to deal with them all at once trying to juggle situations and feelings. (You should see me grocery shop without a cart or a basket... I usually get a couple of laughs from passerby's) Right now honestly, I am confused, sad, lost, and scared.

A few years back my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. From the brain scans and tests he had it before he was diagnosed. We knew that my Grandmother (My Dad's Mom) had it, also along with her brother. Later we found out that 3 out of the 4 kids (my Grandmother and her siblings) had the Alzheimer's. A few years back I met one of my dad's siblings and thought he may have had it too. Just yesterday I found out that my Aunt may have it also. That would make 3 out of the 7 kids in my Dad's family.

I am the oldest of 4. My mother's side has not shown any dementia or Alzheimer's. We, my siblings and I, were told we could find out if we have the gene. It could tell us if we are going to have it or not, or can pass it on. I now have 4 children myself, as far as we know Louie's Grandfather from his Biological father's side has Alzheimer's.

They say the disease is hereditary. I see what my mom does everyday for my Dad. I am so proud of her for taking care of him. I say this for so many reasons. Right now I choose not to share, and they are not her fault. I am beginning to now understand more of why my life was the way it was. Why the lack of contact from our extended family. Why things were not taught or said.

I grew up acting "AMERICAN" (white). I swear I ONLY look Filipino. I don't know any Tagalog. Okay a few words and one of them is not appropriate. I know more Spanish then Tagalog, only because the man I married was Mexican and bilingual. But even then I only know enough where wouldn't starve, have not place to stay, have clothes, no bathroom, and to be able to get lot of kisses. That's just about it.

I don't know much about my heritage, I guess I could ask around more. But the more I find out the more disappointed I am of my ancestors and my lack of knowledge. I understand more about shame. What it does to a person, a family. It makes me sad, how heartless people can be.

Karma... She's a bitch. But she's right. I don't think Alzheimer's is Karma, because a person is born with Alzheimer's. It's like you are born with a bomb waiting to go off one day. When it does, it isn't a quick death, it's long and tedious. Not for the person with it, but their family and loved ones. I find more and more that people can't deal with it. It's a horrible disease that people choose not to deal with. Denial. Financial. Physical. Mental. I don't want that for my Dad. Nor do I want that for my possible future. So what can we do to make sure things are okay for "WHEN" or "IF" it happens. What do you do? Carpe Diem? Plan? Deal with it when it happens?

It's stressful, my Dad is 57 years young. I wouldn't ever send him away somewhere because we couldn't deal with him. I could see us find a safer environment for him if need to be. But he would never go away. I now understand why things weren't said when I was growing up. Why my mom chooses the decisions she does. Why it's so hard for her and for us to go against the current to a proper family structure. Family, it's not business. It's PERSONAL.

Happy St. Patrick's Day 2011!!

So I've been telling Louie that I really Really REALLY! (NO REALLY!!) want a "Kiss Me I'm Irish" t-shirt. (I'm Irish from my mom's side-Most people would have no idea, go figure...) So I decided to go onto cafepress.com and looked at t-shirts they have. Some of them were pretty clever. . .  and some were naughty. I wanted to share a couple of naughty ones I saw, knowing my sense of humor and modesty conflict. I would love to have one of the shirts but I don't know what I would do if anyone were to approach me. So I will just post it here just for the laugh, and one day have a "Kiss Me I'm Irish" t-shirt. At least I can just say they can kiss me on the cheek.

The last one just about had me on the floor laughing. My brother found out a year ago (or so) that we have a little bit of French too. (Hey, It counts!) Now if I wore these out in public I could find myself in trouble... Needless to say, they are funny, and not something I would be willing to risk out in public.

I also have a few projects to post. The few I have are started and unfinished. But it's progress!! I will post them later with explanations.

So Happy St. Patty's Day! I will post a picture when(ever) I finally get my shirt. Maybe this weekend, everything should be on sale. :D

My Life Would Suck Without YOU!

Ever have someone in your life, someone you thought was special in some way. They could be a crush, a friend, or just fill a void in your life. Regardless they were there and they made you feel good. You hoped you made them feel the same way. For a moment you are content, happy...

Then one day it's gone. A series of events which turned it sour or it just dissolved. Most of the people in my life that this has happened to were friends. A couple of crushes here and there... but nothing I wasn't able to get over and move on from.

Now we have these SOCIAL NETWORKS to help keep in contact with people maybe you wanted to keep in contact with but wouldn't been able to very well if it wasn't for it. A few of the people you didn't think you would have anything in common with. Some of them you just want to keep an eye on. Others just happen to be an "obligation" to keep in touch with. (Don't judge, you have a couple of people in your life that you do that with too!)

Sometimes I wonder if this "social networking" is for the best of human nature or if it's hurting it. We know more then we should. I imagine it is something like living in a small town with a town gossip. But the difference is with social networking is it comes straight from the source. Then people gossip. It's literally a huge "hen party" but we allowed the roosters to join in the fun too. People share just about everything. Their life drama, other peoples' life drama, their kids, music, death, new life, inspirations, support.... People share their opinions in religion, parenting, politics, favorite songs and quotes, questions, and games... It's rather overwhelming when you look at everyone and what they are up too. Some people share just about everything, some people share some, and some people choose to share their views through a code of metaphors, and other's stay pretty superficial. It makes it so it's okay for people to be nosy. Then people get mad when people get into your business... hilarious!

I guess what I am trying to say is the people that dissolved from my life for the most part won't be there. They are gone from my life. Like they never existed. I have no way of contacting them. As I imagine it was like back in the day, when letters and telegrams were exchanged. I know an idea where they were (or where the last time I saw them), their name (could be real or fake or too common or not listed), an idea for an age. A couple of pictures. Songs that remind you of them, a radio full! Memories and feelings... to last a lifetime.

I guess everyone has a few people they would like to come in contact with. With social networking, it makes it easier. That's great. But when does it go too far? When does it become not just a help to socialization but a replacement. When does it start to ruin your social skills, or missing people for that matter. Is it good to miss people? Does it make it easier to know everything you can or does it make it worse? Does it make us more creative or successful? Does it make us happier? Sadder? No difference at all? Could we now live without it if it was gone?

Never say Never...

....Say right now in my life I couldn't see myself or kids doing that, and if it ever happens then I will learn how to deal with it.

I found myself growing up in a very Catholic family. Church every Sunday and every Holy Day of Obligation. I did everything. Baptism, Reconciliation, Communion, Confirmation, then I got pregnant in high school. My boy friend (at the time) was Baptized but that was it. So he did his First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation when we were engaged. (After Mila was born) Then we got married in the church. I did everything by the books, except I had sex out of marriage. I had promised myself that I wouldn't have sex till marriage, and it ended up not working out that way. Honestly, I think I was more scared of it hurting then the consequences. I had a friend in school who had a baby, and I never thought I would be in that position, ever. Then it happened to me, and I turned to her. I should have listened to her 'more'. She had so much to share, things I could have used.

Now I find myself married with 4 kids. An "I will ask your for help when I need it" (sassy) 8 year old, an "I live to the beat of my own drum" (sneaky) 6 year old, a "hard headed" (stubborn) 4 year old, and an "I can do it myself" (tempered) 2 year old. Everything I told myself I wouldn't have in kids. They would be well behaved (for the most part they are) and they would listen. They wouldn't play at the table when eating, scream, hit, or call each other names. I imagined they would tattle and make messes, but I would teach them to clean up and be nice. . . .ROTFL! But even in their personalities there are good and 'challenging' aspects. Mila is an independent dependant, Lela loves to share everything she does, Sergio will make you pee yourself laughing at the stuff he does or gets himself into, Julianna absorbs everything around her and uses it to her advantage.

WOW, I really should have listened to those who were giving me their "unwanted advice". I didn't have to take it and use it. I could have just smiled and taken it. Stored it, in hopes that they are parents too and that something must have worked or hadn't worked for them. Take in consideration that every child is different and sometimes things need to be approached differently with each of them. A couple of my kids I need to be stern with and look them in the eyes for them to understand what it is I am asking them to do. With a couple of my kids I can sit and just ask them and they will do it. All of my kids question my judgment in motives toward what needs to be done. All of my kids want to do something different at the same time. All my kids play the "it wasn't me" game.

So Never say Never. One day you'll break and buy that item you said you wouldn't. You'll say the words you promised you couldn't. You'll pick and choose your battles. Your house won't always be spotless. You won't always be completely sane, but who ever is? Everyone gets tired, frustrated, angry, sad, lost and hurt. We all need to be understood and also understand that everyone parents and lives their lives differently. We all need to share our experiences, learn what works and what doesn't for us. If we don't we will run in our own circles. We have friends, listen to them, they are our friends, right? Our parents and grandparents won't always be here to pick their brains out, so pick at them. Ask them questions, take their advice they give. They may know a thing or two, for goodness sakes they raised you! And for your significant other, if he is amazing listen to his family. Something in his family made him amazing, find it. If it doesn't work with your kids, it may just work on him! LOL!

La Tarte Soie Française

The French Silk Pie!

Never had one before. So I made one. OMG! It's rich, smooth, creamy, and yummy! (Like a Party in your mouth!) Pretty amazing. I was surprised I made it. And was upset my crust stuck to the pan even though I buttered it. But it's okay, it was still tasted wonderful.

The dessert followed 2 homemade lasangas and homemade french bread! Which I made also. SUCCESS!(Juli even fell asleep at the table! Lol!)

I went out with some wonderful ladies, Amy and Stella, and Amy's boyfriend Jared tagged along and was a great body gaurd. We went to a country bar and had a couple of cocktails and danced. It was a blast! Here is a couple of pictures.

Don't forget to chew before you swallow...

I just have to give my son Sergio the heimlich.... just lovely. He shoved a whole meat ball in his mouth and choked on it. Then Louie and I watched to see if he'd cough it up on his own. Well he didn't so I helped. And up it came. Kids....

Finding where I belong. I feel I have something to give, but I don't know where to start. I have so many projects started and left undone. Ideas.... lots of ideas! Passion! I used to have more of it, it's kinda dull now, but I need a project that sets me on fire. I need to be surrounded by inspirations. I need to get out more. I need to dress more feminine. Dresses... Skirts... I will get on that when the weather gets warmer. I found out how to make a jean skirt out of old jeans (I haven't made them yet, I need a seam ripper), I haven't had a jean skirt since I was in kindergarten, and it was light pink and had a matching pink jean jacket... That was 20 years ago...

I just found the dance move I have been looking for! You know when you know what you are looking for but you can't remember the name! I found it. I took swing dancing when I was in 9th grade. I loved it! Anyways, one of my favorite moves was the pretzel! I loved that move, and the basic can opener.

Dance, maybe that is what I need. Some physical activity other that just running. Dance sounds good. It fills a void in my life that I can only fill. It gives me "Me time".  Epiphany moment!!!

I found it! The passion. That burning passion. I need to dance! To let go and have fun. Be silly. Swing looks like a place to start. You don't need heels and you can learn basic lead and follow. Learn the beat of the music you are listening too. It's playful. Has lots of room to grow. There are so many styles to learn. I only know a bit from basic 2 step. Dance!

Hold On...

Michael Buble'!
So last night I made a batch of oatmeal raisin cookies and my timer didn't set. I was watching Chicago Code and realized it must have been more than 10 mins. All I could muster out is "SHIT", and realize I burned them. I was so upset. I don't know why, but all I wanted to do was cry. Louie said it was a good thing the rest of my dough is still in fridge for later... I was so bummed out.

So I found a recipe for a French Silk Pie. I have never had one but found it is a favorite for a friend of mine. So I am determined to learn how to make one. I think I will make one for this weekend when my dad's sister comes for dinner. I haven't met her. Her name is Milagros (Mila), sound familiar right? Yes, that is my oldest daughter's name. That is how I came up with the name. I acctually had the name picked out before I met Louie. I loved that name, still do. (Milagros means miracle in Spanish)

So most of my music is on the nano. Now to start making a list of things we need to bring. One of my favorite and tedious parts of traveling. I find lists help me stay organized. Anyone who knows me well knows that I am in need a reminders without my lists. My minds is always on the go and I can be very forgetful at times and other times I can be an "ipod" as Louie calls me. I can remember things about a person, that most people tend not to think to remember.

That reminds me I scored high in the communication department on my ASVAB in High School. The military wanted me for communication, because I would be able to learn languages well. Funny thing is I never took a language in Jr. High or High School. I had no want to go into the military but wanted to take the test to see what type of career I should go into. I almost started going to school to be an ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter. I hope I can learn Sign Language to help with my massage career, and Spanish too. So I know what some of Louie's family is saying. Another one I think I'd like to learn is French, I don't know where I would use it. I think it would be just fun. Maybe if I get Alzheimer's my family will have to know English, ASL, Spanish and French in case I start mixing them. LOL! I guess you have to have a sense of humor about it.

So I am catching up with laundry! YAY! Now I need to go through the kids stuff and figure out what fits and doesn't what to keep and to give away. Lots to do... LOL! Well, I am going to get on it.

Chasing Cars...

I love this SONG!

If you were to call me right now you would hear this song instead of a phone ringing. When I hear this song I am in my place. It's one of those songs that makes you want to sing, dance, lay down in the grass and watch the clouds go by....

Right now music, reading, and knitting have occupied my thinking space. I have lots to do right now. Laundry, cleaning, and preparing for trips. Meanwhile, somewhere in there I need to feed my family, eat, sleep, love, workout and plan. Sometimes I don't know where to start. How to stop my mind from day dreaming. Thinking about "Love Don't Run". I swear I cry every time I hear that song. I don't know what it is exactly, the lyrics or the meaning, but it gets me every time.

I am finally a proud owner of my first Apple product. We got a hand-me-down ipod nano 5th generation. So I've been listening to a lot of music and trying to put it all on the ipod, so it's ready for my trips. My goodness this is a lot of work. I thought burning music to Cd's was a challenge. This happens to taking it up a notch.

We took a week off of working out, and I gained 2 lbs. We took pictures last night, and I felt sad, even though I have lost weight. But then I looked at the pictures we took when we first started. WOW! The difference is noticeable. I think I gained muscle mass! I then felt better, and did my best to work harder this morning. Tomorrow I am going to try and do the next workout up. I think this is the first time in a long time I have been excited for bathing suit season. I know what style I want, now to find the "one". I originally wanted a one piece, but if I can work hard, I might be able to get into a different/more flattering suit. I wanted a monokini last year, But right now I have curves in the wrong places. LOL! I guess we will see.

I also bought a epilator! LOVE IT! If I can manage I will never use a razor ever again! I am thinking about getting an electiric trimmer/razor to use in between epilations. But it is amazing how much softer my skin is and how finer it leaves the hair! And the time it takes for it to grow back! AMAZING! It hurts, I won't lie, but it is nothing compared to waxing, tweezing, or being nicked by your razor.

Well, I am going to get on top of that laundry that has to be done. I hope everyone who reads this is doing well.

Repeat...

I keep having these dreams. Mostly the same people. Occasionally the setting and time changes (Climate, morning, noon, night...). Sometimes I am there for a few hours that one time, sometimes overnight, sometimes I go back after I leave, and sometimes I get stuck there. I keep having these dreams, over and over. Sometimes I find exactly what I am looking for and other times it is indirectly found. Like I am there to meet someone(s), but they don't see me coming and I don't announce my arrival, or I do say I am coming then they show up or they don't. The dreams always end up the same. Sad. Broken hearted. But I am grateful for clarity.

Maybe it's about trust? Maybe I am afraid of failure? Or am I just setting myself up? Am I running toward a dead end?

Maybe I am reading and watching too much "cop" TV? Whatever it is. These dreams keep coming. They are weird. I try to explain them but I imagine they make sense to me but sound like jumble mush to everyone else. It's like reading foot notes to a book. You know people, places and a general idea what happened.. But you weren't there engaged in the book to know why it happened and how they felt.

Like Pride and Prejudice. You know that in the beginning Mr. Darcy can't stand Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Elizabeth can't stand his pride and anti-socialness. Elizabeth was proposed to by her cousin Mr. Collins, who is to inherit the estate her and her family live in. She turns him down, and then he proposes to her best friend Charlotte who is 28 (which is apparently is old and a burden to her parents). Later Mr. Darcy talks to Elizabeth against his "better judgment" telling her he loves her and asks Miss Elizabeth for her hand in marriage. Just after she had found out from his cousin Colonel Fitzwilliam that he taken part in taking his best friend Mr. Bingley away from her sister Jane. Then he bails Mr. and Mrs. Bennet from a financial burden by paying for Elizabeth's sister Lydia's husband's commission. Mr. Wickham was a childhood friend of his who turned money hungry and had earlier confessed his true love to Mr. Darcy's sister Georgiana and then left when he knew he wouldn't get a penny. Then Elizabeth finds out that Mr. Darcy paid for the wedding and Mr. Wickham's commission and it was supposed to be a secret. Mr. Darcy brings back Mr. Bingley to Jane when then Jane is then engaged. That same evening Lady Catherine de Bourgh (who's estate abuts Mr. Collins place) comes and asks Miss Elizabeth if the rumor is true that she is to engaged to her nephew Mr. Darcy. Because he is to be married to her daughter, and it was an arranged marriage since their infancy. Miss Elizabeth denies it. Mr. Darcy and Miss Elizabeth confess their love to each other and then are married.

Seriously, what a head ache. But if you haven't read the book or watched the movie, none of this will make sense. It's a jumbled up mess. And sounds like TOO MUCH DRAMA. But is truly a beautiful love story.

Oh clouds... I am surrounded by them. Dreams... real or not. They can feel like it. It can be joyful or full of mush! BLAH!.... to laundry and running errands it is.

What a day!

Yesterday's quote! Today's inspiration.

"If you want the change, you have to make the change." -My best friend told me this, so I am taking her advice and living it.

So I did today. I did a few loads of laundry, cleaned the kitchen, cuddled with my kids and watched musicals with them (Blue Hawaii and Mama Mia). AND I read a book. One For the Money by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum left me laughing all day today. I truly felt like a clumsy bounty hunter, falling for the "in trouble" cop Joseph Morelli. If I ever became a bounty hunter I would be Stephanie. I could see myself trying to catch the "bad guy", stealing his car, and later to be caught off gaurd in the shower, and then being left hand cuffed to the shower rod by my own cuffs.... then having to call someone for help... LMAO, I couldn't stop laughing.

Today was pretty good. I also threw in some knitting. I am almost done with the baby shower project. And then will be making the purses. I really need to make them and sell them! Meanwhile I wanted to share my day today. I did think about the stuff that has been "bugging" me, but I tried my best to just let it go for now. To remain optimistic. Because if I want change, I have to change it.

Teacher's baby gift

So I've been meaning to post pictures but keep forgetting. So here they are. Again, I forgot to take pictures of the finished legarmers and the full hat. So here is a picture of a close up of the hat and the frogged legarmers . The frogged ones has an up raised knit stitch due to changing colors. It bothered me, so I took it apart. But the patteren was the same. I did make the bottom and top ribbing thicker. I used the caron soft bright mint and navy blue. Enjoy!
