Thankful Month of November 2011
I posted on my FB something I was thankful for every day of the month of November. So here it is, 30 things I am thankful for in the year 2011:
Day 1: For being alive, having the abilities to learn, love, forgive, and live. For faith and hope, because without these we cannot learn, love, or forgive. For compassion, because we must have this to do them all.
Day 2: For my wonderful husband who loves me unconditonally. Who is all around amazing. A wonderful husband and father. He who makes me mad and happy. Drives me crazy and in love. Who is my complete opposite, and gets along with everyone I know. (Louie)
Day 3: For my kids, because without them I'd be jobless, and my life would be empty. They teach me imaginations never die, love can endure anything, the little things do count, and are bits and pieces of Louie and I. (Mila, Lela, Serg, and Juli)
Day 4: For all of my parents!!! If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here today. They have given me the corner stones to help build my life. (Mom, Dad, Colleen, Jeff, and Sally)
Day 5: For my siblings!! Because even though we are very different we still come together and celebrate our love for one another. May I never loose you to anything but for God to take you home. (Jenna, D.J., J.J., Anthony, Amy, Sonia, Ivan, T.J., and Breann)
Day 6: For my very best friend Kristi, because she has no blood reason or obligation to love me, but she does!
Day 7: For my in laws and extended family! They have taught me a different part to this world, a world I was sheltered from. They are the reason I am as prayerful as I've been, a reason to learn, to move forward, to forgive, and to be compassionate.
Day 8: For Chevy our dog. Because he can make you laugh, snuggle with you, have a conversation with you, ask for attention, and is a blast to humiliate with all the things I knit him. He is also the best "watch" dog ever! Oh, and does quite a few tricks... (Bark and howl on command, roll over, go find, shake, high five, and beg...)
Day 9: I am thankful for God's plans. God has a plan for everything and everyone. We may not understand them or why, but in the end there is a lesson to everything we do. In hopes we learn something, in hopes it brings us closer to our Creator.
Day 10: I'm thankful for yarn, sticks, hooks, patterns, and creativity!!!!!! As you may know, I love to knit (crochet) with a passion. I prayed for a very long time to find an outlet for my emotions. And have found something that is not only productive for me, but for other people to enjoy sometimes!
Day 11: Today I'm thankful for all those who serve their country. (Veteran's Day)
Day 12: I'm thankful for my Dad. Though Alzheimer's has changed him, he is happy and loves my sister's and my kids sooo much! The look on his face to see his grandkids. It's like his best friends just came through the door. I never want to let this memory slide. This is how I want to remember him. This is how I felt when I was little....
Day 13: I am thankful for soccer! The kids loved it, we had fantastic weather most of the season! Infact, I think best weather season to date since we have started. I will miss our soccer families! The parents who made soccer practices and games "that" much more fun! You know who you are... and to keeping in touch till next season!!!!
Day 14: I am thankful for the house we are in. Though it isn't ours, it is our home. I can feel comfortable having people over for dinner, and throwing birthday parties for my kids. It may not be big, but it's perfect for us right now. I am happy that its warm, 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bath rooms, a garage, and a yard! Best part yet, I may even start decorating.... :D
Day 15: I am thankful for my husband Louie!!!! He stayed up with Juli while she threw up every 15 minutes. He even took the mattress from her toddler bed, put it in the hallway across from the bathroom and laid with her till 4 this morning. (Half my idea...I didn't think he was going to stay with her.)
I am thankful for the little things becoming the big things right now. Heat, light, carpet, linoleum, flushing toilets, toilet paper, paper towels, blankets, washer, dryer, BLEACH, homemade laundry soap!, clean water!!, good food, showers, tooth brushes, soap, .... the things that make little kids puking all night, just a little easier!!
Passion! Find it... you will love it and share it with the world.
Day 17: Though the majority of our house hold is sick with the flu, I'm glad to all still be here. There is so much loss in this world and it sucks! It sucks to see and hear it, my heart goes out to each and everyone of you. May you all be blessed with loving hearts. Those of you who are having tough times, may you get through it and have it make you closer to those you love, and make you stronger. In this world there is too many preventable disaters, if we all were aware and kind, we could all be thankful and be there for those things that aren't preventable. Have a wonderful day and squoosh the ones you love!!!!!!!
Day 18: I am thankful for the loving people in my life!!!! Each one of you who have touched our lives at one point or another! Thank you! We are also blessed to be loved and accepted into families that are not our birth families. Especially the Chamberlain family and the Harmon extended family!!! Thank you for making our days so much more!!!
Day 19: Today this thankful is going to an anonymous person in my life, that has been there for me in so many ways. I never thought life could be filled with so much joy from a "stranger". Though I know this year has been "H.E. Double hockey sticks" for you, you have still been my friend. I am thankful for your laughter, your smile, your individuality, your trivia, your thoughts on your hopes and dreams, your passion in life, and most of all your compassion. I hope you can over come the pain in your life to be just you again, I miss you. *hugs*
Day 20: I am thankful for "my" mechanic!!! I'm thankful he is trustworthy, caring, a thorough worker, and is more than welcome to be paid in meals and *wink*. But please don't tell Louie that our 4 kids are the mechanic's... *wink*! (He he he....)
Day 21: I am thankful for modern, traditional, and alternative medicines. The possibilities we have now today is amazing. I am grateful for it all. We are truly blessed to have what we do. Let us not take it for granted but explore and share our knowledge again, for then I believe we could learn and help one another to finding the cures that lay in front of us.
Day 22: I am thankful for Linda's Knit and Stitch! Wonderful customer service, conversation, YARN, and they even have a small area for the kids to play while I indulge in my creativity!! AND they have knitting group times to just drop in and have fun! LOVE it!!!
Day 23: I am thankful for being able to be young with my kids. I am thankful to be able to grow up with them. Though no matter how old you are when you start having your children, every child and milestone brings something new to your life to learn. As parents we make room to grow with them.
I am also thankful for my sister Jenna, though our lives are much the same, we are very different people. I am so glad to be able to celebrate our differences and the ability to share our lives together. She is a great support for me. I hope one day I can be there for her as much as she has been there for me.
Day 24: I am thankful for today that it's a day of family and friends getting together to celebrate being thankful! I'm so very excited to spend it with those who will be here. I will miss both of my brother's today, they are away for work and school. We love you D.J. and J.J. and I hope you have a good Thanksgiving where you are. (Thanksgiving)
To my extended family, may we all be together one day, and I'm thankful for just the thought of it. Many *hugs* and prayers your way! We love you too!
Day 25: I am thankful for the month of November to be thankful!! I am thankful for being able to have wonderful conversations with my husband, kids, siblings, parents, besties, friends and strangers. Though I may be naive and not as intelligent as the next guy or girl. I am, however, one of the bright crayons in the box!! I am fun, outgoing, colorful, full of conversation, creative, and for the most part try and be positive about life. I haven't always been this way, and I'm thankful for my experiences to drive me to a better person.
Day 26: I am thankful for coffee. I love that we have our regular small shop baristas. We've been going to Baystreet Coffee for almost 9 years! In fact one of our daughter's name was inspired by a barista. We love that place!!!
Day 27: I'm thankful for music, all genres! From Jason Aldean, to One Republic, to Savage Garden, to Jim Croce, to Wilson Philips, to The Beatles, to Eminem, to Sara Bareillas, to Linkin Park, to The Capenters, to Pink, to the Mamas and the Papas, to Blink 182, and Lady Antebellum! I'm amazed by the creativity of some of these people. The ability to express yourself. To realize that these big music celebrities can have feelings just like us!! Its that feeling where a song just hits the right spot today and next week are on to a new one.
Day 28: I am thankful for the Sun, Moon, and Stars (planets, galaxies...)! I am thankful to be able to experience such an extraordinay thing. You don't have to have math or science to appreciate this type of beauty. It reminds us we are small beings in this universe! That there is a much bigger world out there...
Day 29: Though the Thankful month of November is coming to an end, I find I still have tons of stuff to be thankful for. I am thankful for goals; short ones, long ones, old ones, and new ones. We all make them, meet them, break them, and learn from them. I am thankful for "optimism", because without this life feature I would be lost for hope and faith, then perhaps love. So my goal is to remain optimistic in my goal setting, because life never goes as we plan, it goes as it was planned, but even then doesn't really go that way...does it?! May we find the good in everything and everyone.
Day 30: The last day of Thankful November. I am thankful for the circle of life. We live by our own morals. We teach what we have learned. We have learned from the lessons and mistakes we live and see. We share. We bond. We eventually love. We create. We are human, all filled with sin, broken promises, heartache, pain, grudges and revenge. Let's not be the bigger person, but all of us better people. For we all have our own cross to bear, stories to share, and lives to be lived. Share, listen, and learn! Be thankful not just the month of November, but everyday. Let us encourage compassion to everyone, because the person who least deserves it in our eyes, truly needs it the most.

How long...
... will you hold a grudge for? Till it becomes too much? How long is long enough? How long is too long? Will you take it to the grave with you? And most of all, if you have faith in an afterlife, will you take it beyond death of life itself and let your soul hold on to it into heaven, hell, or purgatory?
Forgiveness. A selfless and some say selfish act. We can only forgive those who we choose. We can only accept the apologies that are given and we choose to accept. What are our conditions to our forgiveness? Or should we be completely forgiveable? What is not worth forgiveness? As people of free will, should we leave our judgements to ourselves or to our creator? Do you have a creator? Do you believe in an afterlife? Would you be willing to create "chaos" in your afterlife due to you grudges, lack of forgiveness, and apologies? If your belief of life lies only here on this earth, are you willing to sacrafice a part of you to the pain of not moving on and making the best of life of everyone around you? Do you then believe that every minute wasted on anger and pain is 60 seconds less than you could have used on something better like happiness, love, joy, and passion?
It makes me sometimes wonder how to pick and choose my battles when it comes to these questions. It can be a painful, yet amazing experience. It can either bring me down, or bring me to the door of change. Like I know what its like if I choose this way, I wonder if I choose something different if the outcome will be a better one. Do we all have second chances? Have we learned from our mistakes? Have we learned from our triumphs? Have we celebrated our love with those we love and love us back? Have we tried to celebrate life with those we love that choose to live afar. Do we do our very best in life? Do we make up for the times we don't always think or do our best? Do we hold ourselves accountable for ALL of our actions?
Grudges... how long is too long? And how long are you willing to hold on to this? Honestly, as painful as it is, it is destructive and I must move on and learn another way to cope because this way has gotten me nowhere. To another plan... to a better one... to one with a possible future with maybe you, but a more peaceful one for me.

HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO ME!
So I would like to start this blog with a story on how I started knitting. A hand full of people know how I started, but I think on a day like this would be perfect story to tell.
One day I was sitting at home crocheting. I was pregnant with our youngest (Julianna), and it was a cool day in March. The previous Christmas we went to El Paso, TX and I was talking with Louie's Aunt Carmen and his cousin's girlfriend, Abby. They both crocheted. I asked if they knew how to knit and they both said no. (For Christmas, I had made crocheted slippers for my mother-in-law and my-grand-mother-in-law.) I had expressed that I would love to learn how to knit one day. Well, back to 3 months later in March, I decided to teach myself. I had some yarn, with no knitting needles. So I sharpened 2 colored pencils to a point and used those to teach myself. My yarn kept on snagging on the wood tips so I used some clear fingernail polish to make the tips smoother. I sat myself in front of the computer looking for tutorials on how to knit. It was before YouTube was really big to me. I, then found this website, www.knittinghelp.com, it was amazing! (I even still find myself there every now and again.) I could watch the same video over, and over, and over again. It was nice because I could watch it without annoying someone saying "I didn't get it". Soon enough I found myself knitting. I convinced my husband to let me buy some cheap Boye knitting needles and some cotton yarn. The first thing I ever made was a pillow for our dog Vega (RIP). It didn't last long and was tossed out. The next thing I made was a baby blanket for my niece, Avari's baby shower! I then ventured out and made another blanket for our daughter Julianna, and my first hat! Since then I have been hooked! I have made hats, blankets, a pillow, socks!, stuffed animals, Mary Janes (EEE!), mittens, fingerless gloves, arm warmers, legarmers, cables, and a Shawl (DOUBLE EEE!). I even taught myself to Magic Loop Knit! (No more one sock/mitten/arm warmer syndrome!) Next week I will be knitting my first Christmas Stocking! And hopefully some socks made from actual sock yarn.
I hope to push my knitting thoughts to bigger and better places! It has been a wonderful habit to endure. It has helped me so very much. With my thoughts, and helping me pick and choose my battles. I have even taught other people how to knit. (Including my daughter, Mila.) :D This year holds my biggest knitting accomplishments to date, (Louie's socks, Mary Janes, and my shawl). I have a couple of other projects I really want to kick out of the park before the year is over. "Cross" your fingers... LOL!

Ranting...
Pet Peeves! Why I have them, and why I can't let them go!
Things that used to be peeves, but not so much anymore.
Do I want to have more kids? Am I going to have more kids? Why do you have 4 kids?
Okay, I would love more kids, but honestly in this fast paced bad economy world it would be in our best interest to just keep the 4 kids we have and not procreate anymore. (Though I have been told we have some of the cutest kids in the world!) We have 4 children because we also came from large families. Louie is 1 of 5 children, and I am 1 of 4. So we wanted our children who had someone to play with, share with, learn with, and cooperate with. They now have 3 other someones in the house to play with, and I think that they are quite lucky to have that.
Teen moms have no idea what they are doing, and are quite selfish....
Okay, being a mom at 17, 19, 21, and 22. I can tell you any new mom has something to learn regardless of age and experiences. What will the birth be like? (Every one of them is unique) What kind of baby will we have? (Colic, jaundice, nights/days mixed up, hungry, poop/pee everywhere (blow out baby?!), sleep through anything, light sleeper, like the bouncer/swing/floor/boppy... the list goes on!) As a teen mom I did have my own selfishness, but every Mom does, but I can tell you I grew up incredibly fast. It took a lot of work, and I wouldn't change it for the world.
FML....
I loathe this phrase. Why? Because everyone has their own tragedies. But stating to FML just sounds like you are asking for more trials, instead of trying to just get up, brush it off, and try again.
My biggest one: Those who use Husband and Wife (hubby and wifey) though they are not married.
Okay... my history. I got married at 18 and planned most of my wedding when I was 17. I got married in the Catholic church. So we did all the neccesary steps to do so, including Louie completing all of his sacraments, and the additional counseling due to our extremely young age. (We also already had a child premaritally) My parents said I could get married if I graduated high school. (Meaning they would pay for a wedding.) I did, and on time. We went through a lot in the short time we were engaged. We did the all steps I was taught was right to get married. We could have easily waited till I was 18 regardless of my beliefs and gotten married in a court house. Not that the court house weddings are less of a marriage, but at that time in my life it wasn't right for me. So when people slap around these names when they aren't married, it makes me upset. It makes me feel sad as an adult they don't want, or just haven't, taken the steps to get married. It can be as easy as applying for a marriage license and getting married. Or it can be as complicated as we made it be. But I find the steps we made, make me appreciate the names Husband and Wife so much more... I wish people could respect them more. If they choose to live together and make a family, and that is what they feel is right for them, then that's fantastic. But by all means in my book this doesn't mean they are married, husband, or wife.

The success of being a parent...
Soccer season!!!
All of our soccer children have each scored this season!! Mila scored her first one a few weeks ago, Lela scored her first one last weeked, and Sergio for the first time this weekend. All of them have brought both my sister and me tears to our eyes. You wouldn't think to cry at a time like this, but tears of joy just happen to come. To see my children grow up more and more into the little people they are. It truly is amazing! And I don't know how else to express that.
Mila started soccer 4 years ago and had no desire to really play. Infact she kinda played her own game. Ran around in circles, up and down the field, picked at the grass, and hugged her team mates during games. Now she runs, takes the ball down the field, passes, talks to her team mates, helps cheer them on, asks to play and sometimes even scores!
Lela started soccer 2 years ago and did not want to play at all. She was shy, afraid, she cried in the middle of the field, walked, and refused to play when asked. Now she really gets in there, takes the ball, passes, plays one of the best defense, and currently holds the most goals in the family.
Sergio, this is his first year of soccer. This boy has so much drive!! He has amazing potential that is craving direction. He is most definately one of the most aggressive players on his team. He will take the ball and drive it down the field. He even thought to stop it and shoot it in a goal today. He usually takes it right out of the field. Which may call him to be a football player later in the future.
I am on a Mommy high. How great they are! No other feeling could ever match this feeling, other than more of their success. I am so so proud.
Now to cleaning pencil marks off the walls.... dents the feeling, but not by much at all.

So much to just think about...
So, I found out today that a childhood friend of mine has lost her pregnancy. She knew what she was having, the baby even had a name. They were all super excited. I even followed along on facebook.
This makes my heart ache. It makes me want to scream and cry and hold my kids so tight. It makes me feel guilty of how blessed I am. How sometimes I take the simple things, the big things for granted. I feel sad and heart broken. Though it doesn't directly affect me, it hurts. My heart hurts for them.
I don't know why this happened. We never may know. But it makes us cherish life. All life. No matter how old or young you are. Your status. Whether you are nice or mean. Born or unborn. Sick or well. Troubled or untroubled.
Just brings me back to compassion. To have it. To share it.

Moving on...
Continuing to make good judgements. Trying not to falter in my guilt or doubt. I know how I got here. I made a choice and I'm sticking to it. I remember how it made me feel, what it made me think, and how I came to this decision. I can only choose how I feel, what I think, and the things I can do. I cannot choose how the other people will feel, think or do. But I set up boundaries for comfort, for morals, for me! Because I was uncomfortable.
I'm am realizing I'm in a stage of growing. I've always have been here, and will be here till the day I die. But I'm in a place of acceptance and I am openly taking in this growth. I am trying to learn as much as possible, living my life to the fullest. And right now that means falling in love with my husband everyday, squeezing my children every chance I get, loving my family for who they are and not who I want them to be, for my two best friends who like (love) me for who I am, and me loving them for who they are.
We are all subject to change. But since we are all subject to it, we must all choose to grow together or apart. Ours lives are a dance. Not every dance is a seductive Tango or a happy Jive. We have to learn each others reactions to our actions. And when someone backs off, it means they need space. Unless they both are in agreement and its a playful game of tag.
I am learning just like you. Its whether you want to learn or just choose to move on and go. Its your move, and I have a feeling this friendship has now become 2 solos. And frankly, I'm okay with that. Because you cannot dance with someone you cannot trust.

Boundaries!
STOP! Right there... this is my space, and this is yours. I don't want you to enter my space without my permission. We are 2 people, with 2 different lives, with 2 different wants and needs. But that doesn't me we can't be friends, we just need boundaries!
Yes! I am happily married, despite the huge challenges. Yes! I love being a Mom, though I may go crazy in the end. Yes! My family may have constant drama, but what family doesn't? And it doesn't mean we are "mean" to each other, we just don't always know how to express our feelings. No! I don't want you to think its okay for you to be in my space. No! I don't think you should get upset when I set my boundaries. You wouldn't like me to do things that make you uncomfortable.
Just because I need a break from you doesn't mean I don't like you. Just because I need a break with you doesn't mean I need you to rescue me. (I will let you know if you are my rescuing type...) Just because I talk to you to vent doesn't mean you should hold it over my head. Just because I talk to you, tell you my secrets, and so and so, ect. ect. doesn't mean I want to live happily ever after with you. Just because I'm angry doesn't mean I am neccessarily angry at you! Just because I haven't talk to you, doesn't mean I am trying to avoid you.
I can and will choose my life's choices. If you aren't happy with or able to respect my decisions, feelings, and oppinions then please leave.
Boundaries! Make them, set them, live them, share them.

On My Road to Compassion.
Ignorance is Bliss....
Whoever came up with this is both incredibly smart and at the same time ignorant of its outcome.
Ignorance is Bliss....
my interpretation is that not knowing anything means you don't have to worry about it. Making the bliss part till rather than knowing and being stressed.
However, then there comes a time with the ignorance has to end and so will the bliss. That is when I believe we have the "snowball effect". When the walls start crashing down. (Something I imagine its like when the dreams start crashing down in Inception)
On to compassion. Learning that everything we do has purpose. Not one thing we do is solitary. Everything we do has an action and every action has a reaction.
You stand up for someone, you bet your bottom dollar their enimies will come out to haunt you. You have officially started a war. All you wanted was to be fair. Compassionate. Considerate of all parties. But in this life its an "all about me" world.
Let's just think how much better life could be if we could add compassion to our lives. We would still have disease and sin, but the least we could do is be honest, and take the time to try and listen. I may not always understand. I am switzerland, and I am not choosing sides but I am here to listen. To challenge your answers to learn more. Its not because I completely disagree its because I choose to ask to learn more. If we choose not to ask the hard questions, we may never be able to learn to deal with the difficult tasks.
Which brings be back to Ignorance is bliss. Is it really? Yes, short term, long term you are looking for bumpy road of lessons.

Picking and Choosing Battles
So I started going back to school last Friday. To find out that on top of everything else going in my life, I have officially bit off more than I can chew. I don't need just refreshers, I need to go back to read and review EVERYTHING. But I know book work isn't going to make me a great massage therapist, it's the massage practice that will. But I need the book smarts to pass my boards, to help people, and not kill them.
I found myself in a bind this week. A weeks full of soccer practices, kids starting school, becoming prepared for games this weekend, family, and trying to maintain a home while trying to find time for school and my own personal sanity. It was just too much to remember and juggle at that. If I was going to school closer and learning something new, it would be different. But this isn't the case. I am finding that I am depending on a lot of people to get what I want. If I let anyone down, I want it to be just me. I will still pull out all my books, binders, and papers, syllabysus, and begin my own refresher classes. I will still get my massage license. If I can help it, I will not over extend my favors from everyone.
I am currently in a state of fear. Of working hard and putting forth money to fail. I am afraid of not passing my boards once again. What I need to give myself is time. Time to learn everything I need to pass. I am not in any hurry. I will probably not make my goal to New Years, but that's okay. I want to be great at what I do, and by rushing myself and everyone isn't going to make me better. Just frazzled and lost. Which is where I am right now.
I'm trying to breathe. Figure out where I need to start. The beginning only seems best. The stuff I already know, and build on that. But right now my family comes first. My kids and their happiness, my love for them, that is what matters most. I found myself studying yesterday, finally realizing how much they still need me. Every few minutes asking for, to do, or to watch something. They need to be reassured of my love for them. And right now that is what they deserve, and what I chose to do for them from the moment of conception. This is my choice to be their mommy. One day I'm going to be great massage therapist, but above all I hope I can be their mom and Louie's wife. They don't need a massage therapist, they just need me. Something, I've known but needed to hear.

My Thoughts Overwhelm Me...
Karma, she's a BITCH! I mean it. There are times I am so glad what goes around comes around. But cheering her on is only asking for it to come back and bite me in the ass. I am finding she is more complicated than just going around and coming around. Does she just punish for the things we do on purpose or the effect we leave on people?? We also forget what shes does back to the person, eventually effects others. Maybe Karma is another word for our actions, that its like the butterfly affect. That every little thing has a bigger reaction. Just because you don't believe in it, doesn't mean it isn't true.
I also am mad because you care so much to ask to have some of my time. I make time, you make it seem like it means so much to you, but later to find out, that it means nothing. That "venting" about that stoopid girl you loved that doesn't love you back means more to you than me listening to you and our very friendship. That me just being there isn't just enough. That all I was just a person to listen. I can't give you all the time and money in the world. But I sure as Hell can be a great friend. Why can't you just see that?
I am mad because my dad has Alzhiemer's. That though I have him in my life right now, we never had the opportunity to have a real relationship as father and daughter, except when I was really little. My teenage years were horrible, and the rebel in me didn't make it better. Now I find myself mad, why? Why now? Why can't I have a father. Its not fair. And for some reason, I feel like its all my fault, and yet has nothing and everything to do with me. WHY? WHY? WHY?
Most of all why?!? Why do I have to learn everything the hard way? Why are we being taught this lesson, and most of all, this way? Is it because we were being taught another way and chose not to change, to learn, and make things better? Is this the only way you could get it through our thick skulls?!? Has it nothing to do with me, and everything with them, and it just affects me? Or has it everything to do with me, and its all my fault? WHY? I don't know why, though I probably will never actually understand. But its painful to put forth effort to find out that you have become more lost then you thought you were. You thought you had seen a comfortable path of happiness and love, to find more pain and sadness. I just hope in this time of pain and sadness that I can learn something good from it. Because I don't know why, I cannot understand till I have overcome this obstacle.
It hurts and I cannot control what happens. I can only control myself, and my choices. Just sometimes I just wish it didn't have to be this way.
